Lindy-Westie Evening Dances

The popular West Coast Swing and Lindy Hop dances on weekday evenings continue in the beating heart of Turku's student scene: the famous Proffan Kellari bar.

The evening dances are an informal, no-entrance fee, low-threshold event organised by the society and held in the upstairs cabinet of Proffa's Kellari (Rehtorinpellonkatu 6, Turku). During the evening we will play music of both dance genres according to the wishes of the participants. Please note that the room has a tiled floor with seams, which may not be the cleanest. We recommend saving your best leather dance shoes for better floors!

Welcome everyone, also beginners and those who are just interested in the dances!

IRWCS Intensive

Rally is an annually released choreography that is performed around the world on the same day to promote the joy of West Coast Swing. We plan to dance the choreography throughout the city, film the performances, and possibly create a compilation video of them. We also plan to perform the choreography at parties. Participation is completely voluntary, so you’re welcome to come learn the routine just for your own enjoyment! This time, we’ll be learning the Rally routine in a one-day intensive session instead of weekly classes. We plan to have 2+2 hours of practice with a break, and there will also be a party in the evening. You can check out this year’s routine here.

Saturday 29.8. or Sunday 6.9.
Around noon, we'll meet up in town for a refresher session before the shooting and performing around the city.
We will agree with participants on which day works better for everyone.

The €20 participation fee for the intensive course also includes admission to the party. Otherwise, admission to the party is €5 for members and €7 for non-members.
