Lindy-Westie Evening Dances

The popular West Coast Swing and Lindy Hop dances on weekday evenings continue during the summer in the beating heart of Turku's student scene: the famous Proffan Kellari bar.

The evening dances are an informal, no-entrance fee, low-threshold event organised by the society and held in the upstairs cabinet of Proffa's Kellari (Rehtorinpellonkatu 6, Turku). During the evening we will play music of both dance genres according to the wishes of the participants. Please note that the room has a tiled floor with seams, which may not be the cleanest. We recommend saving your best leather dance shoes for better floors!

West Coast Swing Rally choreography

It's time for the annual Rally practice! The venue will be the familiar Taimi 2 at Puutarhakatu 21.

What on earth is Rally? Every year, West Coast Swing dancers around the world learn the same choreography and perform it on the same day worldwide.

This yeart the performance day is either Saturday 6.9. or Sunday 7.9. They will be in the afternoon at Turku's shopping malls. More info coming closer to September!
Often we have gone for coffee or dinner together with the performances. Participation in the performances is voluntary.

Here is the video of this year's choreography to be learned. This year's Rally will be learned over ten sessions. If you have completed the basics of West Coast Swing, you'll do well in these classes. There have sometimes been participants without prior knowledge of West Coast Swing, but it is recommended that you know the basics of West Coast Swing.

The practices will be held from August 5th onwards every Tuesday and Thursday until September 4th. If you can only attend one day a week, that's fine. We will teach different sections on alternating weeks on different days, so you'll learn the choreography even if you can only attend on Thursdays.
You can still learn the Rally even if you start later or miss a few sessions.
There is no need to register for Rally training. Learning the choreography is a fun addition to the world of West Coast Swing.

If you don't want to participate in the performance but would still like to help out, we need photographers and promotional material distributors for the performances.

In addition to the Rally training, we have open practice sessions once a week on Thursdays after the Rally.

To cover the cost of venue rental, we charge a small admission fee: Summer package 25 € / 20 € (includes all 10 Rally practices and 5 free practices) or single practice payments 3€ for just the Rally, 4 € for the Rally and free practices.
