West Coast Swing party

All are welcome to Turku Swing Society's West Coast Swing party at Bolero in Turku. Come dance in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy a fun evening with WCS music!

The event is suitable for all West Coast Swing dancers, regardless of skill level. You can come alone or with a partner – no partner is required.

Before the party there is also West Coast Swing intensive course in Finnish!

Time: Sat 16.5. at 17.15-19.45
Place: Loiste Studio, Eerikinkatu 7, 3rd floor
Price: members 3 € / others 5 €
Payment methods: MobilePay or cash.

The room's floor is vinyl, so it might be a good idea to bring a couple of different footwear options.

Lindy-Westie Evening Dances

The popular West Coast Swing and Lindy Hop dances on weekday evenings continue in the autumn in the beating heart of Turku's student scene: the famous Proffan Kellari bar.

The evening dances are an informal, no-entrance fee, low-threshold event organised by the society and held in the upstairs cabinet of Proffa's Kellari (Rehtorinpellonkatu 6, Turku). During the evening we will play music of both dance genres according to the wishes of the participants. Please note that the room has a tiled floor with seams, which may not be the cleanest. We recommend saving your best leather dance shoes for better floors!

Tuesday West Coast Swing dances

Tuesday West Coast Swing dances follow largely the same concept as Lindy-Westie Evening Dances. This time, only West Coast Swing music will be played – those interested in Lindy Hop can head to Saaristobaari for Swing Tuesday.

Tuesday Westie dances are a great opportunity to keep your dancing skills up while the weekly courses are on break. We aim to play beginner-friendly music that is easy to lead and follow. Please note that the venue has a seamed tile floor, which may not be the cleanest. We recommend saving your best leather-soled dance shoes for better floors!

The venue is the upstairs cabinet at Proffan Kellari (Rehtoripellonkatu 6, Turku), familiar from Friday dances.

Tutustu argentiinalaiseen tangoon VIIKONLOPPUKURSSIN järjestämistä kokeillaan uudestaan syksyllä

Target audience: Anyone who wants to try or learn Argentine tango.

The course introduces the basics of Argentine tango: movement, music, and culture. You do not need any prior dance experience or skills to participate in the course. During the classes, we will do exercises both alone and in pairs, learning to move with a partner to the music while taking into account the unique characteristics of Argentine tango.

If you are already familiar with other dance styles or want to brush up on the basics of Argentine tango after a break, this course is also perfect for you.

Language: Finnish, English if needed
Instructor: Eeva-Mari Salminen

You can register with a partner or on your own. We aim to have an equal number of leads and followers in the class. Partner swapping is optional but recommended. Wear comfortable, flexible clothing that allows for easy movement, and bring flat or heeled dance/workout shoes. You can also practice in socks.
