Turku Swing Society

Turku Swing Society is a club for social rock'n'swing dancing. The Society was established in 2005 and is a sub-organization of the Student Union of the University of Turku.

We organize social dance parties, weekly dancing lessons and weekend workshops. Lindy Hop and Boogie Woogie have been in the core of our program since the very beginning. Argentine Tango was introduced to the weekly program in 2009. We also invite visiting teachers to give workshops in dances such as Balboa, West Coast Swing, Vernacular Solo Jazz and Air Steps for swing dances.

We start a new beginner-level course in Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie and Argentine Tango twice a year. The courses are mainly for students and staff of the University of Turku, but provided that we have enough space in the dance studio, others are welcome too. You can sign-up with or without a partner to the swing dance classes. We rotate partners during all of our classes, so everybody gets to dance.

To request a place in Argentine Tango classes send email to: tangoturku(at)gmail.com. Do NOT fill in the registration form before you get a confirmation from the teacher that there is a place for you in the class.
